Diving Spanish Rocks Holmes Beach FL

Sun Jun 30, 2013 3:39 pm

Beach diving on my side of Florida is not so great. One of the few spots to go is called Spanish Rocks and is a long line of exposed clumps of rocks that runs parallel to the beach about 250 yards off shore. Easy diving, not so great visibility but there is a lot of soft coral, sponges and quite a bit of marine life hanging around. First day we saw a nice Jewfish under one of the ledges and he was none to happy about us visiting his lair.....2nd day we met our new friend Batfish....Thought he was dead at first because he made no movement at all even when I initially picked him up.

Doing it right should include some common sense, not just blindly following specs and instructions. .Gary D, AWAP on SB
