Here’s me diving the Mark 7

Mon Sep 02, 2019 9:07 pm

I’m in love with this thing. It breathes like a dream. The IP was perfect right out of the chute.
It makes me nuts that the LDS guys are so dead set against diving it in open water - it was lovingly reconditioned by yours truly!
I also mounted the Voit MR12 to the tank and jumped in with just flippers and a 5# weight in my pocket. That one breathes a little choppy in the water but worked really well too!
Next project is the DH!

I bought and rebuilt one a couple years ago. The MK 7 is a sweet reg. I had it down 140 feet at Fortune Pond at Crystal Falls Michigan in June. Water temp at depth was maybe 40. The reg never missed a beat. I have dove it with sub 500 psi tank pressures just to see if the "Honk" works. It does, quite well!

Yes, one of the few things to NOT like about the Mk 7 is its paucity of LP outlets--and the fact that its one extra LP outlet points the wrong direction (so you have to use that LP swivel adapter thingy for extras, which messes up the aesthetics).

Yes, that's the "thingy" I was referring to. It screws into the "extra" or "auxiliary" LP port on the Mk 7, and itself has three LP ports (IIRC). It is long enough that it extends beyond the side of the Mk 7 so that one of these new LP ports points in the "correct" direction to accommodate a BCD power inflator where usually found.
