Finally got back in the water...

Tue Apr 05, 2022 9:12 pm

After a couple of years of being dry, the stars aligned and a buddy and I headed to Monterey over the weekend. No vintage gear(a Titan and a drysuit), but I haven't had a chance to tear down any gear in a while. Had some surge and the visiblity was especially low Saturday morning. I'll likely be back over there with the Kraken in the next couple of months.

It’s always good to go back to the sea. Time to dust off those regs! I’ll finally be heading to the beach this weekend as well after a hiatus of a few months.

Ice chunks are in the River as the Ice Boom was removed just recently. Until the Lake empties itself, it just isn't a smart idea (plus it is pretty darn cold). With surgery recovery, Doctor says maybe July I can return to diving. Can't wait. That mystery discovery two years ago beckons a return...

Did a couple of dives at San Carlos a few weeks ago. No sign of the big great white that hit someone a week or so before, but what can you do?
First dive was pretty cold with plenty of surge. But we came back the next day and had a great dive. Great vis, no surge, no surface waves.
I did catch an ear infection, which my doc chalked up to diving with some residual effects of a nasty COVID case. Even 2 weeks on, it sounds like I have cotton stuffed in my left ear. Never had a problem equalizing, though.
Anyway, I've decided it's about time to retire the old XS Scuba wing. Looking at replacements now.

Jerry,
Ping me offline and we'll see if it works out to jump in the water. I'm pretty booked for a while, but sometimes a weekend pops up that I can head that way.
