The Making of Thunderball

Sat Mar 30, 2019 5:34 pm

This should probably go in the Bibliophile section, so mods move it as your discretion. I ran across this on Youtube. It's almost more interesting then the movie itself!

In the early 70's I was on a dive trip in Cozumel, guided by Carl Roessler and Rick Tegler. Rick was an instructor out of Stan's Sports in southern California. He said he was one of the divers in Thunderball. I've checked some of the movie credits to see if he was listed but couldn't find his name. As the clip states, over 60 divers were used in the film so many are not listed.

I came across this just recently. There is an interesting part mid way thru about the filming and the equipment used in 1950s-. DH regs modified to make the gear for Nemo's crew.
Another view of how difficult it was to bring this and Sea Hunt to us.

Great find! Thunderball was my favorite childhood Bond movie. Beverage reviews & feeding gear reviews
