Neustadt-Germany: 2012 Vintage Divers Meeting

Wed Jun 27, 2012 4:24 pm

Hello all,
I just have arrived from Germany. :D
I went to the Neustadt - 2012 Vintage Divers Meeting.
Approximately 50 collectors and members of the Historical Diving Society of Germany, France, Italy, Croatia, Czech Republic, UK and others countries.
It was a great opportunity to meet other collectors and exchange information on double hose regulators from several countries.

Thank you for buying me a Saturn too :)

Very cool, Adair! Thanks for posting the photos.

Ahhh... the Fatherland... Very good organizers, and the makers of the best Ice Wine in the world. I'll have you know that Zahn, my surname, means "Tooth" in German... So I've got that going for me... :o

Did you dive with the group?

I've had the very good fortune to have made 2 trips to Germany over the years, but would love to make it back again some day, and it would be a hoot to do some diving while there :mrgreen:

What's the story on the Meva Saturn? I've seen photos a couple of times but never the inside. The shape of the cans kinda look like the Nemrod Snark. Where are they from?

Thanks a lot! I didn't dive with the group...the meeteing was for only two days, so I chose to exchange some double hose and talking with other collectors...The rare one stage Saturn was made in 50's by the company MEVA from Chekoslovakia.
Some pics and soon all the pictures will be in CG-45.com:

Congrats on a great trip and the additions to your world class collection.

I have a few questions:
1) Is this a yearly event?
2) Approximately where is the city Nuestadt located in Germany?
( I am German heritage my wife is Dutch- We want to return and spend several months wandering around Germany & Holland in a year or so)
3) Books, Catalogs & Brochures, I did not see any displayed--did the show feature a bibliophile section? Display and or trade?
4) I did not notice American & Canadian produced regulators.. Is it a valid assumption that are as scarce in Europe as European regulators are here?

Thank you for sharing,

SDM

Hello Dr. Sam,

Thanks a lot!!!...I have got some rare DHRs in the meeting! :D :D :D
About the questions:
1) Yes, the meeting is a yearly event...always in june! Mr. Franz Rothbrust from HDS-Germany has organized the Meeting since 2007 - this is his email adress: [email protected];
2) Neustadt/Wstr is about one hour and a half from Frankfurt....from Frankfurt southwards by car or train;
3) Yes...Please, check the pictures again.... many books, catalogs, manual, etc were showed for many collectors!
4) Yes!!! You are correct! Really there were not many U.S. and Canadian regulators .... I took some american DHRs to negotiate :shock: with the Europeans.

Cheers,

PS: The next meeting will be on June 22nd and 23rd 2013 :!: :!: :!:
