Vintage Equipment Diving in Islamorada, Fla (in the keys)

Mon Aug 29, 2016 7:20 pm

There had been discussion in earlier threads about Fla dive charter operators and the difficulty of diving vintage.

I spent a couple of hours today with Mike Goldberg, the owner of Key Dives (keydives.com) in Islamorada finishing up my Nitrox cert. I showed him my fabulous new Voit Navy and asked him if he had a problem with it. I explained the 1st and second stages were new technology and his view was if I'm comfortable with it - dive it. You're signing a release of liability when you go out anyway so you might as well use what equipment you like.

To be on the safe side I'd call ahead and talk to Mike specifically about what gear or lack of gear you would like to use. I found him to be very live and let live. Beyond this preliminary acceptance of vintage gear, Key Dives has good reviews in general.
