Fortune Pond June 17-18

Mon May 23, 2016 4:00 pm

Fortune Pond June 17-18
- One more good visibility dive trip before 2 months layoff due to Summer obligations. We just returned from Wazee where the visibility seems to be getting worse every trip. Fortune Pond never lets us down... Every weekend from June 24- Aug 12th seems to be committed to one thing or another. So, this June 17-18 date may be our last good dive before Sand Dog. I'm going. Who's with me?

My lovely bride reminded me that on June 18th I have to be a Scuba Ambassador in Port Washington. I have to work with governmental types who have never really held a job and have no concept of reality. Oh joy, should be fun. Maybe I should call in sick.... that's it, use their own tactics! But no, can't make it. Boo

Fortune Pond June 17-18 Update
- It's looking like a pretty good sized group is heading up to Fortune. Jerry's coming with Chuck. Tom and Becky, Nanette and Jill... These are the Twin Cities divers. From Alexandria, we have me, Rich, and Terry Bodine (a local PADI instructor)... And maybe my wife Jill if Becky is able to come up with Tom (she's got to get off work). I think Diver Don Fassbender may come down from Marquette. I sent a note to the Deep Six Divers club in Wisconsin so there may be a few from there as well.
- Fathers Day Thoughts: At least for me, the trip and the holiday are compatible. I'll return home Saturday night and enjoy Fathers Day Sunday with my family.
- CPR/AED Demo: Sea Hunt Jerry might be doing a CPR/AED demo between dives.

Final Update...
- Looks like we'll have a pretty good turnout for this dive. My wife Jill, me, Rich and Terry Bodine will be driving over from Alexandria. SheriffDiver, Sea HUnt Jerry, Tom, Dan, Nanette, and Jill M will be coming from the Twin Cities. Diver Don from Marquette. We're aiming to arrive around noon Friday and get in 2-3 dives before going out to dinner Friday night. I'll have my little grill and some cheddar brats for Lunch Friday. Jerry's bringing his favorite BallPark Franks. Feel free to chip in food, snacks, chips, etc.
- Most are staying at the Lakeshore Motel or AmericInn in Iron River. Tom has found a campground about 5 miles outside of Crystal Falls. "Paint River Hills Campground".
- Gotta fill some tanks tonight and then I'll be ready to hit the road for Fortune!

I know everyone will have a great time! I'll be there in spirit just not in corporeal form. Post lots of pics.
