Anyone out there interested in diving a drill rig in the Gulf of Mexico in October? I've been booked as a guest speaker at a NOLA event on October 12 and have chartered a ride out to an inactive rig on October 13 ( Thursday) barring bad weather. The actual drill rig we dive will be determined by the boat operator the day of the trip. I've booked an entire 6-pack boat to ensure my ride. There are 3 seats available. I saw a short documentary about diving rigs called "The Steel Reefs" in 1972. I just found it on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MalpDT8NiqA
Maybe we could fill the boat with hosers diving Argonauts!

You will have a great time! Captain Tom took me out last time I was there and it is one of my favorite dive trips ever

Thanks Bryan - A drill rig dive has been on my bucket list for a long time. As long as I've been diving, I've never ventured too far off the reservation!

WOW! :P Sounds like an awesome dive. Unfortunately, I am not available.
Thanks for the link to the video. I've been a Stan Waterman fan since I started diving in the 70's. Would have been an incredible experience to dive with him.
