I tell ya, I'd vote, but the logistics for any of those places are a bit tough :D Still, I'm enjoying following this thread and looking forward to the day when my vote will count.

I've wanted to dive PCB for years(I lived in a little fishing village called West Bay just north of PCB when I was but a lad). I didn't bring all my gear when I went to Destin last year because I was told it wasn't worth diving the Jetties when it was low tide, and the tides were all high at midnight or so those days. Went snorkeling anyway, and it was beautiful. Of course, I'm comparing it to the diving in Kansas, which is at best something like this:

So, unless work screws me over, I'll be there.

I'm back,
I left Florida 13 October and returned 28 October from Guadalupe Island,Mexico, where we dove in Shark Cages 3-4 hours a day(thanks to a loaner DUI dry suit. Two days after I got back I traveled to Orlando to attend DEMA and NOGI gala's and spent a few days with my daughter and trying to kick White Shark Flu,still have it.

Reviewing all the Sand dog IX comments, a few people have been here Captain/Barb(BTW not a Naval Air Station) but a Naval Support Activity, which is home of the Experimental Diving Unit (EDU)and the Naval diving and Salvage Center (NDSTC)

Nearby is the Diver Lab which instructs and repairs Kirby Morgan dive equipment and tests life support as per USN standards. Man in the Museum is a few miles west.

St. Andrews state park has been mentioned.
Dive Locker has been mentioned, Boats, good air.
Morrison Spring is 45 miles north, grounds have been paved and decked in recent years.
Vortex is north of Morrison springs and 1-10

Marianna was mentioned, this is home Merritts MIll Pond and Blue Springs State park also a great dive shop on one end of the pond run by Edd Sorenson,www. caveadventures.com. 1 850 482-6016

I first visited Panama City Beach area in 1963-64,I returned here in 1974 ans have lived here since, but I run away alot.

June?Date?number of people in tours of EDU,NDSTC ? and Dive lab depending how busy they are. I've got a few friends doing homework for me on this.

BTW,I've deleated a number of facebook pages including VDH.

Serious replys only please.

Thanks
Bernie

We were waiting to decide the date in June till you got back to make sure you would be around. So tell us the date that works best for you and we can plan from there. Barb did a lot of groundwork while she was in PCB a couple of weeks ago and I think Tony is just waiting for details from us. Barb and Rob are in Mexico with a few of the other usual suspects and I am sure she will fill you in on the details when they get back next week.

Since you are back among the common folk now I'll give you a call next week....I have some ideas for the event I would like your opinion on.

Details are still up in the air but here is the plan so far.

Sand Dog IX Panama City Beach June 8-10th

Host shop is Tony Snow's The Dive Locker
And our own Bernie Campoli

Diving on Friday will be at St.Andrews State Park

Beach diving and a great place to check out your gear and get ready for Saturday.

Diving on Saturday will be on the boats with The Dive Locker. Tony says to sign up early as they fill up fast. Or you can stay at the beach or visit the springs.

Sunday will be on the boats, beach or in one of the nearby springs to rinse off the salt before your drive home.

Bernie,Barb,Eva and I are still working on details for meals and options for lodging. There is camping available at the state park if you want to reserve your spot now
Bernie is working on getting someone to cater a cookout for us at The Dive Locker on Saturday.
As soon as the miscellaneous details are sorted out I'll make an announcement and move the post to the top.

The committee has high hopes you will pass the initiation challenge and be accepted into the ranks during SD IX.

Initiation Challenge?

I'll do anything as long as it doesn't involve any/all of the following:

1. Blue Man Group
2. Clowns
3. Thai Food

We do have a blue man group but that only happens when the water is too cold!
