Memorial Day weekend I will be heading to Fortune Pond to do some diving. Fortune Pond is located in Crystal Falls Michigan. That's up in the Upper penninsula. Fortune Pond is an abandoned open pit iron mine which always seems to have great viz. 80 - 100 feet is common up there. There is but one access point, but it is nicely done. You park very close to the water. It's paved so your not tracking mud everywhere and there's a nice dock. No boats on the lake by the way. And, unless things have changed since last year, it is also free. The people in the area are laid back and it's kind of like stepping into the 1970's when you visit. A neat place. I always bring some Vintage stuff to dive and anyone wishing to join us is more then welcome. I will be arriving Saturday afternoon may 29th and leaving the morning of the 31st.
