How to install a replacement USD nameplate?

Sun Jul 01, 2018 8:29 pm

I just recently received one of Allan's exceptional replacement square nameplates with tabs for my Phoenix conversion and am curious as to what the accepted procedure is for installing it. I don't want to bugger up this work of art and of course I want it be secure with minimal play once installed. Thank you for your help everyone.

1. Bend tabs.

2. Dab of silicone sealant on back of label (not necessary at all but I do it).

3. Insert tabs into slots on exhaust can.

4. Press down on label while bending tabs inward.

5. Go diving!

Thank you sir. I figured it was something simple like this but on the off-chance it wasn't I didn't want to find out the hard way.

I also take a “dull” screwdriver, blade wide enough to cover tab, and , from the back side, tap the screw driver so that the blade makes a crease at the point where I want the bend to be. Sort of like “pre-creasing” the tab. Think of the scoring on a coyrrigated box. They help make the flaps.
