Small Faber Tanks

Sat Nov 30, 2013 6:33 pm

I just came across a couple of interesting tanks. Can anyone tell me more about these?

The description says "As far as I know they are from the early nineties and will need hydro and vis.
I am not sure of their size but they are smaller than steel 72's.

Here is what is written on the side:
Scubapro DOT-3AA 3000-90 9014/ 040 M8803 Faber Italy 07 90 +

The tanks are 25" long from the top of the cylinder to the bottom of the tank.

They are probably Faber 45's or 48 cubic foot tanks. Are they 5.25 inches in diameter? If so those are great tanks to make single divers out of and make them look like Faux 44s from the early years. Lightly sand them and put three coats of Galvalite Zinc gray paint on them. Have simonbeans make a basket harness for them also. :D Now after reading and looking more closely these may be 63 cubic feet. Now I am really not sure. I have some of the 63 cubic foot tanks.
First dives? 1967 and I never lost the fever.

I do believe, those were refered to as " Slim Jims" steel 72's, dist thru ScubaPro, in the 1980's and 1990's.....a favorite of a lot of scuba instuctors.....I have 2 of them in my dive store / service area
