1954 Rene 38?

Fri Dec 17, 2010 1:51 pm

I have a 1954 Rene tank coming shortly that I think is a 38 cubic foot tank with a 1/2 inch valve. Due to my hip situation I am looking for smaller and lighter weight cylinders to play with in the shallow end ! When this comes in I will picture and report condition of unit and also plan on having it hydroed. All and I mean all of my old tanks have recently passed hydro especially since I have requested the initial procedure to bring them to 85-90 percent of their test pressure (roll out procedure?) and then back to zero and then up to full test presure. So far all have recently passed. Heres hoping this one does also. If it does I will need a k-60 1/2 inch tapered valve to fit this one (preferably a USD valve)as I have others. I am also going to get Simonbeans to make a harness for this one too. Well I will keep all informed. :)

Boy do I hope that it passes hydro. Cold up here in NY, mighty cold. Thanks Roger, one of my bestest customers.

This Rene tank was immaculate inside. Very minmal rust particulate in the bottom even. So simonbeans get to work making the harness. I take it to hydro tomorrow and will begin the paint process soon there after. I am curious as that I have looked in the catalogs for the appropriate sticker to put on it when done. Does any one have any idea or a picture in their archives of the aqua lung sticker used on these small 38's? Any help appreciated. I wonder if it is the one wthat was just a rectangular sticker that said Aqua Lung. No evidence of a sticker on the tank currently. If push comes to shove it will get a round one from Karl's stash. :D

A few pics of the fresh paint. Fair paint job... but it will protect it from the elements . New harness is in and it gets a a brand new old stock j-60 valve from 1958! I will post pics in a few days of the finished product. :D

Final Product. thanks to simonbeans harness and Karls stickers this is the final product. I think Bryan had one these at one time but his picture had some other distractions in it and I never noticed the tank! 8)
