Pair of USD AL 50's...what is a fair price??

Thu Mar 04, 2010 11:54 pm

I have found a set of twin 50's for sale near me. http://raleigh.craigslist.org/atq/1628050791.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; What do you guys think would be a fair price? They are out of hydro and vis plus they are the older AL alloy, not an issue with my LDS but it can make getting them filled a problem. I can get 2 new 50's for $300ish - not vintage but they will be in hydro/vis and I will not have to deal with the old AL tank issues. I can always get repo stickers to make them look more the part. I already have bands, manifold and backpack, they would be nice to have but I don't need them to make a set. Hydros and vis are going to cost me $60 for the pair so I have to add than in to the overall cost and there is no guarantee they will pass hydro.

IMHO, aluminum tanks that old just aren't worth the hassle. I'd pay $50.00 a jug for steel 72's if I can give it a look see inside and it's clean. I know those will pass hydro. These are a roll of the dice. I'd pass on that too.

I understand what you guys are saying. I just want a set of 50s to play with ....38s would be even better :). 72s are really bigger than I want/need....the doubles are just going to be quarry toys anyway. I offered him $100, figured the scrap AL, bands and manifold were worth that but don't think he will take that....for now..this is the second time he has listed them.

You would te better served by new Al 50s or 45s. He is way over price on these. Contact Karl as he will get you the best price available on NEW, don't need hydro nor visual tanks.

Pretty much my thinking Allan and thanks for the compairson shot. I DM for a LDS so I can get a fairly good price on tanks. Now to decide on yellow or brushed. :)

Shot Blast would be better than brushed JMHO
