Captain,

My navy manifold measures 8 5/8" between centers. A good 1/2 inch more than the standard manifolds.

Also confirmed by Bernie Campoli from measurements on his set of non mag doubles.

Does the Navy manifold look like it uses the same castings?

Is it plated? I seem to remember seeing some USD manifolds that looked like they were bare bronze.

I think the only difference is the two nipples soldered to the center section are slightly longer and the finish is similar to that of the non mag Aqua Master

What do you think the bronze manifolds were? They were definitely USD.

Bronze or naval brass, sometimes hard to tell the difference, usually bainted black. Not plated to avoid a magnetic signature just like the non mag regulators.
Burnie and Ron, is there the low Mu symbol stamped on the manifolds like on the regulators.

I finished the repo bands for the tanks. All that is left is some battleship gray on the tanks and black on the manifold.

Looks great! I found a manifold in my collection for the nonmag tanks. It has the MU stamp on it.

Is that right? They painted even the dip tubes? Seems more likely of getting crap in your tank like that if/when the paint flakes.

One valve is and one is not painted. I bought it from someone that said it was NOS and been tossed around the garage for 30 years. It had house paint spilled on it and was really dirty when I got it.

I was digging in all the old paint in my storage building to see if I had any gray paint to paint the tanks and found a can of marine gray paint left over from one of my past projects, the paint dates from the mid 60's s so I have vintage paint on vintage tanks. Doesn't get any better.

And soon you will have vintage paint on vintage tanks on a vintage diver. Take some pics.
