Blue pull rod

Evening everyone,
I recently picked up a J valve pull rod that was blue, I just assumed it was a Voit rod because my first thought was “ That looks like Voit blue.” Is that assumption correct or is a blue rod just a blue rod? Thanks in advance.

If it is Aluminum it is most likely a Voit.

A magnet is not always a good test, most stainless steels are non-magnetic but then its rare to coat SS,

Good call on stainless being non magnetic, given that I use a magnet to check if hardware is stainless at work, I should of caught that. Hopefully tonight or tomorrow night after the kids god to bed, I will pull the rod and bands off the tank to get them cleaned up and hopefully the weight of the rod will make it obvious if it’s stainless or aluminum.

My USD yellow Twin 38s came with a black aluminum J-Rod. I thought it was a little too flimsy and soft. Rubbing on the tank band clips was scraping the anodize off and, though it pulled the lever fine, PUSHING to reset the reserve would flex it enough to cause a bend. I use a steel one now. But I guess my point was to note that USD had aluminum J-rods, too.

That reminds me that the few aluminum pull rods I have seen were somewhat bent out of shape.

I am not sure if anyone has seen the New J valve Aqualung has built. Please note that the push rods for the new valve will not work right with the older style valve.
