Nikonos 35mm Underwater Camera
- Bought this from a friend in High School for $75... Around 1970, I think I'm the 3rd owner. Mechanism levers up with the neck strap connectors and seals with an O-ring all the way around. Lens also seals with an O-ring and comes off and on with a lift and 1/4 turn. Removing the lens unlocks the mechanism to be levered out. Pretty ingenious camera design.

I still have my Nikonos II setup. I haven't used it since 2005 when I went digital. It did the job, but had several short comings. By guess and by golly focusing, really picky sealing system, really expensive lense options for a start. I'm all into vintage, but even my DA is a good performer by modern day standards. The pre Nik V leaves a lot to be desired. I just can't justify it. If anybody wants to buy mine, PM me for details.

How about a couple of restoration shots. This is my latest cap depth gauge and SPG.

VERY NICE Herman!
Doing it right should include some common sense, not just blindly following specs and instructions. .Gary D, AWAP on SB
