Mistral confusion.

Wed Feb 15, 2006 6:04 am

I was in Monterey diving this last weekend when a diver stopped by and asked if my DAAM was a Mistral. I was surprised that he knew about Mistrals, but explained to him that my regulator was, in fact, a DA AquaMaster, and that the Mistral doesn't have the option for installing an octopus (pointing to the Calypso-J octopus hanging off of it (which wasted a fair amount of air by leaking on me! IP fine- bad Calypso seat)). I explained that this was because the Mistral is a single stage regulator. He walked off quietly and a few moments later it dawned on me....he was talking about the "new" Mistral!

Now why did US Divers have to go and name their latest tragedy a "Mistral"!!!? Just confusing. Believe me, I know.
