Non Magnetic DA Aqua-Masters Question

Fri Jul 06, 2018 11:14 pm

When the Military used Non Magnetic DA Aqua-Masters, what type of tanks where used with them? I have seen a few non-mag regs for sale and I have seen a few USN steel tanks come up for sale but I have never seen a low/non magnetic marked military tank. Did they just use unmarked aluminum tanks?

The Navy had custom aluminum tanks made (by PST) long before there were any aluminum tanks available to the general public.

If you go down to the "Manuals and Catalogs" download section you can find a copy of the mil specs for the early aluminum and also the mil spec for the steel 72.

All of the non-mag tanks I have seen were round bottomed aluminum tanks. There was a plug on the bottom of the tank. Those were the only aluminum tanks I have ever seen with a round bottom. They were painted grey.
