Missed decompression stop and going back down

Fri Apr 20, 2018 10:13 am

Lets say that you are on a boat diving with a few buddies and you are well past your no stop time. As you are ascending up the anchor line another diver that is not in deco mode grabs your reg and starts to buddy breath because he ran out of air. You take him to the surface to save his life. After handing him off to others what should you do? You have plenty of air in your tank. Padi says get out and do not go back in the water, Mike Nelson says get back down and do your stops and add a little extra time. I am on the side of Mike Nelson and not Padi. What are your thoughts. Also, what if your joints are starting to hurt?

This subject is covered in about a hundred page thread on SB... Check it out when you have a few hours to kill.

One of the things I miss about living in SoCal....And a few others that should not be mentioned.

Bryan, something tells me that you and I would have gotten along just fine had we known each other back in the day. 8)

My first job out of NASDS Instructors College was at SDDS on sports area blvd. I was either there working, La Jolla shores doing checkout dives or at Pacers or the Boars Head after 9pm. On weekends there was a pink school bus that would pick us up and take us to another place along with the Marines and Sailors who had liberty that weekend......And I was still expected to be standing tall for colors the next day when the flag was raised at La Jolla shores park the next day.

Unfortunately no in-n-out here in NY. When ever I visit my family in SoCal I always pay a visit and get a double double and chocolate shake. Cheap food and so tasty.
I was just wondering what you guys thought about it, I guess it is a bit complicated but I would go down and finish my stops. Much of the discussion on SB is not set in reality. Theory and calculations don't always jive what life brings you in the moment. Favorite In-n-out item might be a better topic to discus :)
