Snorkeling on the Destin Jetties

Sun Mar 20, 2011 7:53 pm

I chartered a sailboat while I was in Destin this week. I only had time for a little bit of snorkeling on the Jetties. The clarity was decent(especially for a Kansas diver), and there was plenty of life. I went in with a cheap little disposable underwater camera, and got every bit of the quality I expected. That is, just a hair above utter crap.

Anyone have any recommendations for a decent, low-cost camera for diving? I don't need a professional rig, but it would be nice to be able to share more.

Here is the link to get the best buy you can for a good camera and housing. He always has some really good used stuff as well as new.

I suspect that there are folks on this board that are serious photographers and can provide specific advice, but you can usually pick up a name brand digital camera and a housing fairly cheaply on eBay. The camera will be less than 5 MP, but still good enough for casual use. I paid less than $50 for a Canon A40 and the official Canon housing.
