Congratulations to the published author. Imagine people actually paying you to read the words you wrote, great news Gayle. Please bring copies of your book to Portage for a signing and sale this summer.

I did just finish Gayle's book. As interested as most of our group is in "vintage scuba" they should enjoy this historical fiction. It is a really great look back at childhood(teenage hood) during and immediately following WWII.

Filled with all the lessons Mary learned, that are still so very relevant today.

I treasure my autographed copy. You can get yours at

What a surprise to see these posts. I've been in Indiana for the past couple of days and come back to find such kind words from the most wonderful group of diving buddies I have ever known.
Sure, I will be at portage, and will certainly bring some books. I'd love to do a book signing. It has nothing to do with diving, but has a lot to do with life and living for a young girl. To give you a little history on this book, I have worked with run a way kids for Lutheran Social Services and troubled youth for a very long time, and I still do on my own time. I had a tutoring program in Milwaukee for five years in the inner city from 1998 to 2002. I told a few tall tales to teach them history, and they begged me to write a book for them so they didn't have to carry around 'See Dick Run' books. The kids were 12-25 yrs old. So I wrote this book and the kids really liked it. I was told it was very good by a few other folks who read it and they prompted me to submit it to different publishers. Well, I received a phone call one day saying, we would like to publish your book. I thought, yeah right. Well, the rest is history. A year of hard work by the editors at Tate and myself tweaking and fixing time lines... here is the finished product.
I have also made the costuming for the main characters of the book and at my signing at the museum, I had these on display and wore 1940's clothing. I'm calling it a living history book signing. Sure makes things interesting for the folks at the book signings to see actual clothing the characters would have worn.
So, another giant Thank You, and I will see you underwater very soon. Gayle

Excellent! I look forward to reading it. Not sure what your arrangement is with the folks publishing the book but you are welcome to a spot in the store for free....It can direct them right to the place you want them to buy it from...

Bryan, that would be really nice to put something on here for my book. I'm working on a website and will let you know when that's done. Thanks so much. I have Kaitlyn's double hose on loan in the museum with the beautiful yellow hoses, and am getting a lot of 'oohhhs and aaahhhhhh's' about it. She's not too happy about it being there, but hey.... it looks really cool, and puts all the other ones there to shame!
