Thunderball, the movie

Thu Sep 29, 2016 9:15 pm

I watched Thunderball last night and have a question. James Bond used a single hose regulator with a square second stage. Does anyone know the brand and model?

I rebuilt one for dive buddy of mine. It's a downstream second stage with a diaphragm first stage. It's kind of annoying because it uses a bunch of annoyingly small screws for the cover, the diaphragm, and also the exhaust tee. It's kind of a neat piece of history though. It uses a standard low pressure hose, and if I remember right the second stage diaphragm for an MR-12 will fit it. It breathes on par with any modern regulator. I hope that helps.

Thanks for the info. I was just curious because I have never seen a square second stage. On an unrelated note, I'm in Olalla, WA.

Cool. Let me know if you ever want to dive vintage gear. I have what amounts to a vintage dive shop at my house, LOL.
