JM Cousteau 1014-00 Royal (Value)

Wed Jun 22, 2016 11:54 am

Looks kind of interesting but I think the seller has higher than sane expectations - it is NIB but it is plastic and has that first stage that looks like the Jupiter 2 flying saucer - looks really HEAVY

I offered him 50.00 - Is that too little? Too much? Black plastic second stage. It'll need a new hose because this one has been coiled tight for 30 years or so

Thanks

It's a conshelf, but heavier. Depending on the model it has odd diameter second stage hose fittings. I've had a few, and they run fine. The house routing is more marketing than engineering.

Also the second stage is an odd ball. It is the only (older) balanced second stage USD made and parts are pretty much non- existent for it. It's basically a funny looking Conshelf with oversized LP ports (1/2 inch) and a non-serviceable (due to parts) second stage. I wouldn't bother with it unless you want it as an oddity.

Just my opinion, but you are probably lucky he didn't take your $50 offer. (Unless you just wanted it to help complete your collection)

Second stage is only useful to rob the diaphragm from. The second stage diaphragm fits some other reg, I just can't remember if it's a Healthways or Sportsways, but that makes it useful.
The older I get the better I was.
